This year for summer vacation Tessie went to a nearby day camp with a friend from our Arlington day care. Erin did a trip camp where she went on daily outings to amusement parks and beaches. Caroline had a couple music camps and a few weeks off to relax.
We watched much of the Tokyo Olympics and now that all the girls swim and do track, they could better appreciate the Olympians
One camp-less day Erin made cat treats
This year we finally had enough milkweed in our own yard to support our monarchs. As usual, we harvested eggs from nearby plants
then we fed the caterpillars for the 2 weeks until they made chrysalises
and then we released the butterflies
We hiked the Welch-Dickey loop in the White Mountains
We took a whale watch out of Boston Harbor to see the humpbacks
Earlier in the spring Caroline's cello teacher noticed that something about Caroline's elbow made it difficult for her to put enough pressure on the cello strings with her bow. We followed up with x-rays, and after review by an orthopedist Caroline was confirmed to have an unusual configuration in her joint. It won't degenerate into anything serious, but it's not something that physical therapy can help. Caroline's special anatomy won her a listing in the Congenital Upper Limb Difference Registry that documents such things.
Caroline participated in a strings chamber music camp
and an a cappella camp
She really enjoyed a cappella and will try out for one of the groups in high school
