Tales of COVID-19, Episode 2

Has it been 4 weeks already since schools and workplaces closed? On March 27th, Massachusetts had 3,200 cases with 685 in Middlesex county and 9 in Lexington. By April 10th, Massachusetts had 21,000 cases, 4,400 in Middlesex county and 47 in Lexington. And this is with the stay-at-home order - yikes!

We found some open space on Plum Island, open for the last weekend before closing for the piping plovers

Lexington schools rolled out remote learning plans with a premise of teaching no new materials. Tessie's assignments could be printed out and submitted to the teacher for review.

Erin's work was posted on Google Classroom and after ironing out some IT issues she was rolling

Caroline had the smoothest transition with her school Chromebook and classes already in Google Classroom. She said her new workload was similar to the amount of homework she normally had, just without the 6 1/2 hour schoolday.

Tessie's teacher set up virtual lunch dates with 5 other kids

and she designed her own phone

Erin and Tessie got along better than ever before

Erin kept her premolar in her mouth for so long, hanging on by a thread, that by the time it came out the inside had been entirely resorbed

and started wearing masks. These are the festive versions made from Grandma's headbands

When I grew my beard out, a few hairs got colored by marshmallow fluff. Strangely I couldn't wash off the fluff.

 Tallying our exercise

and once we learned that her assisted living facility reported 2 caregivers with COVID-19, we pulled out Grandma Lu to live in the back bedroom with Reggie, her scaredy cat.
