Surviving Nemo!

All in all, the Blizzard of '13 was a polite storm. It announced its arrival with enough warning to close schools and work on Friday. The snow started Friday afternoon and continued until Saturday afternoon, giving us two days to dig out and recuperate to be ready back on Monday.
Thankfully there was bare ground at the beginning

Four hours in

Eight hours in

24 hours in. Final tally, about 24 inches.

Cleanup complete!

As usual, the girls entertained themselves with princess and mermaid games

Grandma Joan was on hand to help make a chocolate mousse pie. It wuz good.

The drifts in the driveway went over four feet

The winter of '11 taught us to overcome our disdain of snowblowers. For our new house we bought a big blower only to see zero snow last year. This time it was worth every penny .

Icicles in Dad's eyebrows!

Grandpa helped clear snow and hold the baby

An early birthday cake for Caroline

The girls were light enough to crawl over the snow crust

We built a gigantic snow fort

Baby Tessie got outside, too

Clearing snow from the shallow roof on the first floor extension

For reference, the girls are about 5 feet off the ground!
