There is usually only one week of 90s temps during summer in New England. It happens that this year the heat wave coincided with our first family vacation to Cape Cod. We stayed on the bay side where the water was warm and the beaches were perfect for the kids. Other than swimming we tried to do as little as possible, and we succeeded.

Dad enjoyed spending quality time with Erin. You can't really see it, but Dad is sporting his new front teeth thanks to Aunt Katy. They look and feel great!
One of the benefits of eating dinner at 5:30 is that the time afterwards can be spent on the beach at sunset
Midway through the week Grandma and Grandpa arrived. It was so hot that Grandpa was mopping his brow continuously and said that he felt like the character "Big Daddy", from Cat on a Hot Tin Roof. Pictured above is Burl Ives as "Big Daddy". For the rest of the week we tried to get Caroline to call Grandpa "Big Daddy", but it never stuck.
We took a walk on the salt marshes in the Cove until the bugs sent us running home
With her hair wet Caroline looks much older
Of course when she throws a tantrum over her bottle she looks just like a two-year old

Grandma was a big help with the kids and read Caroline many Grandma-themed books
Happy summer everyone!
