DC vacation

We went to DC for our 4th of July vacation. The night before our trip a powerful thunderstorm came through and knocked out power to the region. The girls didn't mind.

Ever heard of a derecho? Here's what it did to the giant tulip poplar next to Claire and Peter's house. Somehow the tree fell uphill, sparing their house and landing on their neighbor's roof.

Hanging out at a playground sounded like a good idea, except for the 100-degree heat. Peter and Erin have the right idea.

Milkshakes at the Jukebox Diner cheered everyone up.

Superdad Peter can do it all.

You had to keep your eyes on Baby Rowan

Showing off Grandma's latest handiwork, pioneer bonnets

What's that?

Baby Rowan at the end of the line. Get ready to make room for one more.

Taking a break with Storyland Yoga - we highly recommend it

What was supposed to be the eating corn became cow corn.

Thankfully none of the kids have figured out the link between this guy and...

... dinner. Certified Angus Prime bone-in ribeyes.

Two fairy girls with their finger lights

Erin and her out-of-control hair

The kids had their own private dining room. And so did the adults!

Three's a crowd

Nana and Grampa visited us for a weekend. Grampa read "How Little Lori Visited Times Square", our new favorite book.
We did a whirlwind tour of Boston, stopping first at the North End for coffee and pastries
Then to the USS Constitution
But only Caroline wanted to board the ship and see the cannons
We made it to the Public Garden in time to ride the final Swan Boat of the day

As always there were baby ducks. Who can tell that they're animatronic?
Our little strawberry pickers
Mommy's birthday
Caroline brought home a ukelele from school and we brought out the big stringed instrument
Riding to West Farm for our summer picnic
It was a perfect day
Caroline's graduation ceremony from pre-K
There it is, the little growing body that will turn our lives upside-down come December. Because of her advanced maternal age, Heather gets special attention, including this early ultrasound. Boy or girl? Too early to tell. Caroline and Erin took the news well, although we think that Erin is the less happy of the two.
