Summer at last

We celebrated the beginning of summer with a picnic at a local splash park

Wilson Farm's old fashioned orange soda gave Caroline an old-fashioned orange mustache

We set up the sprinkler in the backyard and the girls loved it

The Southwick Zoo came highly recommended and it was worth the trip. Despite the heat, the big animals were all out, even our little monkey Erin

The petting zoo had lots of miniature goats that the kids could run around with...

... of course being goats they nibbled on shoes, clothes, and ears

Erin had a blast

For the 4th of July we flew down to Aunt Katy's for a long and relaxing weekend. At first little Charlie didn't know what to make of the invaders of his playspace

Lyla & Caroline played well together and even slept in the same room. Here they helped harvest the last of Katy's carrots

Daddy's "secret" treat: Doritos right out of the bag. This year all the girls got in on the crunching.

We visited Aunt Claire and Uncle Peter's new house and played with Sabrina & Brooke

After a great day swimming at the lake and feasting on Uncle Peter's gourmet meals the girls were completely wiped out for the ride home

Erin checks out the real live chickens and tries to get one of them to say "akadoo"

Why use the door when the window is much more fun?

Not to be missed was the evening cow feeding

Caroline sings Willaby-Wallaby

Spring 2010

Spring in New England lasts about three weeks. This year we were determined to take advantage of every nice weekend.

Caroline and Alana put on their space suits in Alana's rocket ship

We tried to go to Dim Sum on Mother's Day but half of Boston had the same idea. After a spectacular meltdown by Caroline we settled on Wendy's, where the Frosty turned everyone's frowns upside-down.

This year Dad made up a new rule that if you see an oriole you get to eat an Oreo. When the oriole spotting in the neighborhood failed to deliver we went to Mount Auburn cemetery. The result: Oreos all around!

With the girls now addicted to double-stuf's, we visited the Belmont Audubon sanctuary the next weekend. Erin spent the whole time climbing around the garden furniture.

A rare shot of Dad not behind the camera

At the Bishop school Bear Fair Caroline won the cake of her choice in one of the games. She chose the one with the most lollipops.

Erin knows that ducks say quack-quack and on Memorial Day we went downtown to the Public Garden to see the real ducklings

If we hadn't stopped her she would have walked straight into the pond to chase the ducks

Erin looks up to her big sister and Caroline simply ignores her
