Fall fun

Early season apple picking

If it's food Tessie will try it

By the time we left, the place was packed

A different weekend and a trip to Drumlin Farm

Look at those pumpkins! We harvested them in early October and will store them in the garage until Halloween.

On Thursdays we receive the harvest from our Wilson Farm share. That's some chard.

Max getting some quality time with Dad

We took a gamble on a trip to Portsmouth for a fairy house festival.

We had no trouble finding appropriate attire

and the quality of the houses was extraordinary

This one won first prize. The scale doesn't do it justice - it was six feet high. The entire house is an inverted birch stump and with the hydrangeas it was floating in the sky.

Grampa and Grandma came twice. Once to help out during Dad's trip to Denver and once to hear Mom's concert of Beethoven's Ninth in Symphony Hall

All those apples were put to good use

Erin's head did this. Thankfully she only came away with a small scrape.

Last of the summer

Our garden this summer consisted of carrots, peppers, tomatoes, okra, and for the first time tomatillos. The tomatillos were incredibly productive, but each one never grew bigger than a marble. The girls found many uses for them as you'll see below.

What the? Erin will explain in a video at the end.

The pumpkin experiment bore fruit, including one inside our front railing.

Meanwhile, with gates in place at the stairs Tessie has the run of the first floor to paddle around

One Sunday we drove downtown for dim sum

followed by swimming in the frog pond on the Common

Tessie loved the water

The pumpkin is putting on the pounds

We went to Atlanta for Tessie's baptism and visited cousin Jenna

Erin the tree hugger

and Caroline the tree hugger

Everyone ready for a trip to the pool (that thunderstorms canceled)

Tessie's big day. When the time came, she smiled and gurgled as the pastor dampened her hair and paraded her around the church.

It was great to get everyone together for Tessie

Then, on the way home Mom/Heather flew to NYC for Zara's wedding

Thanks to Jean and the babysitting service at the Ritz, Tessie was able come, too.
